Laura Derocher is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, speaker, teacher, sound healer and interfaith minister of spiritual peacemaking. Laura draws on decades of musical theater and cabaret performance to create her unique performances. A recovering corporate business consultant, Laura models her message in her inspirational concerts: follow your bliss to fulfill the Great Work you came to do. Our “Great Work” is both our inner development (learning to love and forgive, unveiling our true nature) as well as our outer service to others and our collective evolution.
Laura has provided keynote “Concert Talks” at national conferences. She has sung at some of the largest spiritual centers across the country including Agape in LA, Mile Hi Church in Denver and Unity in Chicago. Laura has provided singing, song leading and vocal toning to co-create events with such influential authors and speakers as Jean Houston, Stephen Simon and Alan Cohen.
Formerly on staff with international peace troubadour James Twyman and his Beloved Community, Laura coached 40 seminarians worldwide in a two-year Masters Degree program in Spiritual Peacemaking. During that process, Laura earned her M. Div. and became ordained as an interfaith minister.
Audiences have described Laura’s presence as both warm and powerful, inspiring and moving, fun and deeply meaningful. Whether she’s teaching, speaking or singing, people remark that Laura is a loving, charismatic presence who serves to inspire, transform and encourage the people she touches.

“Celine Dion move over! ‘Only Love’ is the best love song ever written, sung by ‘The Voice,’ Laura Derocher.”
~Stephen Simon

(Somewhere in Time, What Dreams May Come)

“Laura, thank you for your presence and for the gorgeous songs you sang. You are so charismatic and fun! The message was timely for me. I’ve been fearful, transitioning into my new career. When you shared your own journey through your fears, and sang I'm Shining, I felt relief and gratitude for my place in the world and for this dance we're all doing. You are absolutely lovely. From the heart, thank you for shining your light and for encouraging me to do the same.

member, Unity in Chicago

Imagine A Be The Change Concert

You and hundreds of people have gathered. All of you are dedicated to exploring your inner self.
You are also willing to co-create the kind of world we wish to live in—peaceful, abundant, loving and sustainable. You are drawn to the title of this event, since you want to “be the change” you wish to see in the world. What new friends might you meet tonight?

Some people in the audience already know Laura and her music. Many are new to the experience, but not for long. All have come for a dose of entertainment, encouragement and inspiration.

Laura takes the stage. She alternates lively, up-tempo songs with deeply moving ballads. Her voice reminds you of a Broadway star or a Disney heroine. Her lyrics say everything you’ve been feeling, thinking and learning about how you want to show up in the world. Some songs are clever and funny. Others move you to tears as the meaning or the melody strikes a chord within you.

Laura interjects her personal stories often, sharing her trials as easily as her successes, owning up to her human fallibility as well as her powerful choices. She might tell a story of how it was hard to forgive someone. Or how she stood her ground when others wanted her to be something she’s not. You feel at ease with her, laughing along at her foibles as you recognize yourself in her. The stories and the songs synergize to create a deeper impact than either could alone.

And then there’s the singing! You get to sing along to familiar old tunes (sometimes with Laura’s adapted lyrics) and to new songs you’ll want to take home with you. After all, this is musical mind treatment. You can’t wait to fill yourself over and over with these positive messages. The melodies will help you remember these messages. Some of the songs you and others want to take home on CD tonight are: I’m Shining, Only Love, Be The Change, Heaven’s Here, Comfort Zone Blues, Have Patience, and I’m The Whole Show.

You leave this concert feeling hopeful, alive and uplifted. Less alone on your path. More certain than ever that you’re heading in the right direction. You remember how much your life makes a difference. You have more courage to, as Gandhi requested,
be the change you wish to see in the world.
